SEED PROFILE

General Description:
Mwu la Flaga was introduced in Phase 1 at Heliopolis, where he had just completed this mission to escort the young pilots for the new G-weapons.

A veteran ace pilot, Mwu was nicknamed the "Hawk of Endymion" after single-handedly shooting down five ZAFT GINNs at the Battle of Endymion Crater prior to the start of the series. Even those who don't know him personally by name seemed to know him by title. This accomplishment, and the fact that he was probably the only person in the Earth Alliance who could use the Zero system, added to his ego, as he refered to himself as "the man who could make the impossible possible".

At Heliopolis, ZAFT forces destroyed his mothership, and a skirmish with Rau le Creuset in the colony damaged his mobile armour. Thus, he boarded the Archangel, bringing his Mobieus Zero aboard. Together with Kira Yamato, he helped to protect the Archangel while she escaped the collapsing Heliopolis, and continued to protect her as she made her way to Alaska. Also, on the Archangel, especially at the beginning, he contributed his cunning tactical abilities and combat experience, allowing the ship to survive. Mwu also contributed to the Archangel by giving the crew a moral boost with his easy-going personality, as well as teaching Kira to fight.

After landing on Earth, Mwu cannot use the Zero due to Earth's gravity. So instead he piloted the FX-550 Skygrasper as backup for the Strike and the Archangel.

Upon arriving at JOSH-A, Mwu was transferred off the Archangel, and assigned to a piloting instructor position in California. However, he was very reluctant to leave, and after telling Fllay to get in line, he turned to go back to the Archangel, saying that he "forgot something". On his way back, he felt the presence of Rau le Creuset, and discovered the Cyclops system set to go off under JOSH-A. Using a generic EA fighter plane, he crash lands in the Archangel's hangar and warns the crew to get away.

When Kira Yamato started to use the Freedom, the rebuilt Strike was handed down to Mwu, using the new OS for Naturals developed by Kira. With his new mobile suit, Mwu continued to defend the Archangel until the very end.

It seems that Mwu and Rau le Creuset share a mysterious connection, as they can feel each other's presence when they are in close proximity. It is later revealed in Colony Mendel that Rau is the defective clone of Mwu's father Al da Flaga. Although it's never been stated in the series, it is assumed that Rau and Mwu are Newtypes. These Newtypes are Naturals whose genes have developed naturally, becoming like Coordinators. This could explain why Mwu is able to hold out his own against Coordinators, and why he and Rau are the only ones in SEED who can use the Zero system.

Supposedly, Mwu died protecting the Archangel from a Lohengrin blast from the Dominion in Phase 49. However, his broken helmet was taken out of the scene in the special edition series, giving it an excuse for his return in Destiny.

DESTINY PROFILE

General Description:
In Destiny, he was introduced as Neo Lorrnoke, the commander of the Earth Alliance special forces unit, the Phantom Pain, reporting directly to the Blue Cosmos leader Jibril. He was in charge of the three Extended children, but occasionally went out to fight personally. His first mission was to steal ZAFT's new mobile suits at Armory One. Then to pursue the new ZAFT ship the Minerva.

Seen as a mysterious character, he always hid his face behind a mask. He wore a black EA uniform and white gloves as well.

Neo was kind to his subordinates, giving them time off to have some fun, and worry about them when they were late returning. He seemed especially fond of Stellar, who trusted him wholeheartedly.

However, at the battle of Berlin, Kira Yamato seemed to be able to sense him, and brought down his Windam. Then he told the Archangel to take care of it. When Murrue came to collect the injured Neo, she was shocked to see that with his mask knocked off, his face looked exactly like Mwu, who was presumed to be dead, save for the scar across his face. Thus, Neo was brought aboard the Archangel, where the crew discovered that his genes matched 100% with that of Mwu's. However, he didn't know what they were talking about. He insisted that his name was Captain Neo Lorrnoke, he was confused as to why eveyone called him Mwu, was angry that they demoted him by referring to him as Commander, and didn't remember any of the crew, not even Murrue. In fact, his first encounter with Murrue ended up with her leaving the sick bay in tears. Kira had commented that he was indeed Mwu la Flaga, but somehow he had lost his memories.

Still, he seemed to remember bits and pieces of the Archangel. He had helped Athrun relay a message to Kira from the sick bay to the bridge, and Murrue commented that he still remembered the communication code, which confused him somewhat.

When the Archangel returned to Orb, Murrue had let him go, giving him the Skygrasper to make his escape, because it was pointless to keep him on board. However, in the middle of the battle, he came flying back, helping to protect the Archangel from Minerva's missiles. He even quoted Mwu by saying that he could make the impossible possible, leaving Murrue in shock. When the Skygrasper took damage, he requested to land in the Archangel, and had a brief flashback of crash landing in the ship.

After the battle, when Murrue came to the upper deck to talk with him, he told her that parts of him knows her, even though his mind may not, which was why he couldn't fly away. Then he asked if she'd let him stay with her, and when she nodded yes, he embraced her.

The next time we saw him, he was wearing an Orb uniform and had become an official member of the Orb military along with the rest of the Archangel crew. With the Akatsuki lent to him by Cagalli, he went off into space with the Archangel for the final battle.

During the final battle (Phase 49), he shielded the Archangel from the positron cannon of the Minerva, much like Mwu did in SEED. But the Akatsuki wasn't damaged like the Strike was, and he survived. During the blast, his memories flooded back to him, as he remembered Murrue, himself, and the time they've spent together. He then assured Murrue that he's not going anywhere anymore. 

Please note that Neo's rank of Captain (Jap "Taisa") refers to his military ranking, not in terms of the position of the person in charge of a battleship (Jap "Kanchou").

The audience was giving a lot of hints throughout Destiny as to the true identity of Neo before Phase 49. First, the voice actors in both the English and Japanese versions are the same for Mwu and Neo. Neo's hair colour is the same shade as Mwu's, except it was much longer. Neo's mobile armour that he used near the beginning, the TS-MA4F Exus, uses remote controlled Gunbarrels that look a lot like those of the Mobieus Zero. Neo's custom machines from the EA are painted purple and black, the colours of Mwu's custom pilot suit in SEED. Then he had bits of memories coming back to him while he was on the Archangel.

APPEARANCES

	Generic Flight Suit Mwu wears a generic flight suit in Phase 1, after completing his mission. This is the first outfit the audience sees him in.
	EA Uniform Mwu's uniform for the EA. Note that this uniform is that of a Lieutenant, even though he did get a field promotion later on to Lieutenant Commander, he didn't change his uniform. Note that he likes to wear his uniform with the sleeves rolled up and the collars unbuttons, to add to his casual appearance. He also wears a wrist band on his left wrist, the purpose and significance of which is unknown.
	Custom Pilot Suit Mwu's pilot suit is custom-made in his colours. Also, the helmet has a white feather insignia due to his nickname as the Hawk of Endymion.
	Morgenroete Mechanics Uniform He wears this in Phase 28 while been shown around the facility and the development of the Astray units of Orb.
	Phantom Pain Uniform Neo Lorrnoke's EA uniform for the special forces Phantom Pain, and his mask. Note that the base colour is black instead of the usual white of the EA uniforms. The ranking is that of a Captain. Also, note that he wears white gloves, and the uniform neatly instead of casually like Mwu did in SEED.
	T-Shirt The T-shirt (probably military-issued) that Neo wears under his uniform. That's Neo's appearance under the mask. He looks exactly like Mwu, except for the longer hair and the scar across his face.
	Orb Uniform Uniform that Mwu wears after Murrue allows him to stay. The ranking is that of Captain/Colonel, the same as it was for him in the EA. Note that he wears it casually again, with the sleeves rolled up and the collar open.
	Manga This is Mwu drawn in Masatsugu Iwase's manga style. His bangs are longer, and looks quite a bit more feminine than his anime appearance.
